Youth Malaysia and Shaking It Up
Today’s post will be a little more personal than the usual rants. I am officially a “youth transmitter” or something fancy title like that for YouthMalaysia.com. It is basically a site where youths can just go and post about anything ala blog style. A few like me are the content writers that keep the ball rolling.
Unfortunately, we can write about anything! That doesn’t really suit me very well cause I am bursting with ideas that only look good in my brain, but when I verbally discuss it with my editor, it sounds really stupid then… even to me.
I like to be assigned a story/topic and then find the most creative way to write an otherwise mundane story.
Maybe subconsciously, I am a little afraid of criticism on writings that are 100% totally my idea. At least if they don’t like the story that I was assigned to write on, I can always put the blame on the topic for being boring anyway and I’ve tried my best to make it spicy.
Moving on, the Planetshakers conference was held at Sunway Pyramid for the better part of the last week.
One thing that amazes me is the expressive explosion on Malaysian Christian youths. The last time I attended Planetshakers, which was about right after my SPM examinations, the crowd were kind of stoned. The speaker dude (sorry, can’t recall his name) even had to ask the people on the back row of the conference hall to either leave or get with the program because they expressed such an aura of apathy. Like when he was getting to the emotional part, some people at the back started roughhousing around with their girlfriends etc etc etc…
But now, it’s an astonishing transformation. During the concert, thousands of people were jumping up and down in synchronized timing until the entire floor shook and groaned in protest. During the sermon, people were perpetually standing up and chorusing the pastor to preach on while waving their bibles up in the air. A lot like those rural African American churches in the United States.
Anyway, just don’t got to Sunway Pyramid if you can avoid it. Not until they have completed SP2. The construction has transformed the place into a madhouse. Parking is crazily cramped with only one exit/entrance at the lower floor. Get ready a vomit bag because its going to be a very circular drive up and down.
Some whole levels of the mall cannot even be accessed by the elevators at the car park section. To make things worst, they boarded up all the stairwells at the car park section. That means, you are forced to use the stupid elevators which are slow and jammed with people just wanting to go one floor up or down! If (touch wood) a fire should break out during the Planetshakers rally, I think the outcome would be catastrophic.
Sunway Pyramid has really become like its Egyptian namesake, a death maze with no way out.
